November 4, 2010: Neighborhood Watch Report Alert !

posted Nov 04, 2010 23:55:25 by Greenback_Woods
Last Tuesday, two young men entered the Fire Water cu- de-sac about 3:20 pm. in a white full-size pickup truck. The bed was covered in a white matching metal top and two bikes, one red the other blue were on a bike rack in front of the rear license plate. They saw me working outside. I thought they looked odd, but we have a couple of young guys living in the cul-de-sac who often take their bikes in & out on a similar rack, so I thought perhaps they were friends of the guys living here.

Sweeping my front walk, I saw the truck leave with only the driver, he made a right turn back onto Indian River heading toward Greenback Lane. Again thinking he had left his passenger off in the cul-de-sac, the other guy had entered my neighbor’s garage and came racing down his drive way on a small BMX type bike. He raced right by me. I dropped my broom, and quickly moved out to the street to see the white pickup truck stop about a block away, and wait for the guy on the bike.

I then raced over to my neighbor at 5922 Fire Water Ct. and asked the son if his bike was in the garage. He came out to look, the bike was gone. His dad parks his truck in front of the garage, so I did not see the bike thief enter. I told dad and son that two guys in a white pickup truck had taken the bike, you can guess the rest. They were long gone.

Officer A. People came out to take the report about an hour later, but with no license plate number there wasn't much that could be done. The bike was valued at about $300. When the two guys turned into the cul-de-sac the bike had been fully visible. Even knowing I was there & I had seen them enter and leave, I didn't even phase them as to being a deterrent or a threat. Both guys looked large, each had buzz type haircuts. One was fair, the other had dark hair and a darker complexion.

Needless to say, the new bike is now being locked in the garage and my neighbor has only had the garage door up when he was actually working in the garage or front yard. Hopefully, that will continue.

I was the only witness. Would prefer to not have this much fun any time soon!
